Dvr Viewer Software For Linux
You can install Play on Linux (POL), then install the IE6 only. After installation in the settings install the vcrun6 libraries (this includes mfc42.dll as well). Then run your OCX setup software supplied with your DVR in the POL settings Miscellaneous pane - run exe file in this virtual drive and install the OCX.After successful setup of OCX run the Internet Explorer, type in your DVR address and log in. You should be able to see the cameras after login.IE7 or IE8 in Play on linux are not doing so well in terms of compatibility with wine and combined with DVR ocx. You can try it, whether it works with your DVR.
If the IE crashes, you may try different version of the DVR OCX software, which worked for me at least. You can install it also via automatic script in POL: WEB Surveillance DVR OCX with Internet Explorer 6.
I always use the klite-codec pack. Cleanest source is atI have Klite installed. On a side note mp4 files play in Media Player, but not avi files.Did you set IE to prompt you about installing unsigned Active X controls? Some DVRs will force you to do just that in order to get things working right.

Also, try uninstalling the control, and reinstalling it.Done and Done. No luck.Does it have a mobile option? If you can use a url to view it from a phone, that url will probably work with linux.I have not found a url on mobile, but a moble app that allows one to veiw it. How could I determine the URL? Maybe Wireshark? This DVR also has a media port 9000, maybe I could get it that way if I knew what service runs on that port.
BTW I have installed Zoneminder and it looks promising. If you know HTML, you might be able to telnet in the DVR and upload some custom pages. Be very careful if you do that.telnet 192.168.0.234 gives 'connection refused.' Nmap shows the service of telnet there though. Also, when you tried viewing, were you on the same network as the DVR?
Dvr Network Viewer Software
If not, you need to open firewall ports as well.Yes, it's on the same network. Have you tried the mac version fromI tried the mac version on a mac and it works, halfway (you can view but not playback). But how to use it on Linux?
Mac virtual Machine? Seems like overkill.Tried PC version in Virtual Machine and it cannot find the DVR on the network. (I turned windows firewall off and tried it, but no luck). The software gives no feedback as to what is wrong. Also I tried many different settings for Zoneminder and none work although the source host name of the DVR lights up yellow meaning that there is some connection. There is no place to put in auth details in Zone minder when setting up a Monitor source.

Sorry for not reading the whole thread, but have you try do 'Enable' all the options in IE for ActiveX??? Internet Options. Security (Tab). Personal level.
Scroll down to Complements and Controls of ActiveX then Enable all ActiveX. Then log in to the DVR.
If you wanna see the DVR from outside, assign ports (80 or 8080) to your DVR on your Modem/Router.And zoneminder does not work with ActiveX. You need a direct link to either a JPG image or MJPEG movie stream to see it on Zoneminder. There are some talks that might be implemented the new ONVIF protocol, but that I heard since 2011. We just have to wait! @coral47: Thanks for getting whatboy:)@masnrock: For android virtualization I have downloaded ANdroVM and it is very good. High performance. But when I try to view my DVR thru the Meye program it just reports 'Buffering' forever.
I know my network setting are right.@whatboy: 1) I am sure I have active x controls enabled in internet explorer. 2)That last link you sent me was just along the lined of what I need. Unfortunately none of those URL's worked with my model. I also tried dozens more with the ispy camera wizard, but to luck. Btw, I don't see that ispy has a Linux version.I just sent and email to Qsee asking for the direct URL. Let's see if they give it.
OMG, it works with IP cam viewer basic on the Android VM. This is very nice app-everything you could ask for almost. I got this from reading he thread given above by whatboy.BTW, as per the thread, I compiled and ran zmodopipe with all different configurations and everything seems to be working but no picture (in zoneminder). My DVR seems to have a problem. Whenever I try to view channel 1 nothing comes up and all other channels stop streaming until I reboot. I guess I could just avoid channel one- I only have 7 cams anyway.
But that's another problem for another day!Thank you everyone!
